Don Johnston is a Commercial Photographer, and Video producer based out of the Detroit Metro area. He cerate’s work for advertising agencies, corporate clients as well as personal clientele. He has a strong Studio Background and is a master of lighting in studio and on location.Don has been shooting commercial work for over 30 years.

Don was an apprentice at Guy Morrison Photography a pioneer in Automotive photography one of the largest automotive studios in the country. Don worked many hours in the studio with lighting and he became a full-time photographer, and later an owner of that studio (Big Pictures).

Don has earned a solid reputation for his motion photography that definitely captures the emotion of vehicles, the excitement of performance and today’s active lifestyle. Since birth Don has had a passion for motor sports and photography.

Don has produced and photographed national ad campaigns for high profile clients like Cadillac, Toyota, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Volkswagen and Buick, GMC, Alfa Romeo, Polaris snowmobiles, Kawasaki motorcycles and Jet Skis. Buell motorcycles and a variety of National ads for NASCAR, Indy, and others.

His career and passion continue today through his work and is an avid snowmobile rider, snow skier, and mountain biker.All of this has been the perfect meld of Johnston’s love of Photography, the outdoors and performance expertise.

Times have changed and there is no need to keep a 15,000 studio any longer so he now work mostly on location and rent when he needs a big studio. For smaller Jobs they have a Portrait studio in Down town Oxford called Johnston Photography. Don and Dorothy have a combined 50 years of experience in Photography, yet they have kept up with all the changes & trends in Photography, but never losing site of what is most important, to create an image that stirs the emotion of the viewer. We also realize quality does not go out of style.
